A certain part of users prefer to restore the operating system to a working state, rather than perform its initial installation in case of failures. To complete this procedure, you must have a working Windows image on removable media or DVD.
Necessary
Acronis True Image Home
Instructions
Step 1
Windows Seven provides a standard function for creating a backup of the operating system. Prepare 4-5 blank DVD-R discs. Turn on your computer or laptop and insert the first disc into the drive. Open the Windows Control Panel.
Step 2
Select the "System and Security" menu. Go to the "Backup and Restore" sub-item. Click on the link "Create a system image". Wait for the menu with the heading "Where should the archive be stored" to appear.
Step 3
Check the box next to On DVDs. Select the required drive and click the "Next" button. Check the boxes next to the names of those local drives that you want to back up.
Step 4
Click "Next". Check the imaging options and click the Archive button. During this process, you will have to insert the new DVD into the drive several times. Number each disk to avoid confusion later on.
Step 5
If you want to use third-party utilities to create a Windows backup, install Acronis True Image Home. Run this utility.
Step 6
In the start menu of the program, click the "Create archive" button. In the next window, select the item "My Computer" and click the "Next" button. Check the boxes for the local drives to be included in the archive.
Step 7
Click the Next button and select a location to store the created Windows image. Click the "Start" button and wait for the program to finish. Close the Acronis True Image Home utility.
Step 8
Before burning the resulting image to DVD media, divide it into fragments. To do this, use the 7-zip program. The disadvantage of this method is that in order to successfully restore the system from the image, you will first have to combine the archive elements. For storing such images, it is best to use external USB drives rather than DVDs.
