Twisted pair is a type of communication cable that is often used in the installation of various types of network equipment. When using a twisted pair, it is often necessary to crimp it, which in itself is not a difficult task even for beginners.
Instructions
Step 1
To crimp twisted pair cables, use standard crimping schemes such as T568B or T568A for four wires. It is necessary to cut off the required size of the twisted pair cable from the coil; it is most convenient to do this with a cutter built into the crimping tool (crimper). Strip the insulation off three centimeters of the cable length. This can be done with a knife or scissors, but it is better and faster to perform the necessary operation using a twisted pair stripper, the length of its blade corresponds to the thickness of the cable insulation.
Step 2
To reduce interference, the conductors must be unwound for a length of about two centimeters, no more. Move the untwisted conductors away from each other, and align them with each other, observing the selected crimping scheme. The diagrams differ depending on the cable and functionality. Cut the conductors very accurately with a specially designed knife so that their length from the ends to the insulation is one centimeter two millimeters.
Step 3
Carefully ensuring that the conductors are not intertwined, insert them into the connector until they stop in the front wall. Do not lose sight of the fact that the connections of the first and second ends of the wire relative to the connector must match. Gently, but with quite strong pressure, crimp the twisted pair. This action is performed with special pliers with a connector placed in them. Crimping the twisted pair of the second connector is done in a similar way.
Step 4
After the steps taken, make sure the crimp is correct. Make sure the presence or absence of contact and the observance or, conversely, non-observance of the correct sequence in the conductors. To do this, use special tools designed to test signals in the conductor.
