Step 1
Each program installed on a computer writes information about itself to the system registry, but not every program cleans up all its tails after uninstallation. The main task of cleaning the registry is to get rid of such garbage entries, because they significantly slow down the system over time. It is very difficult to perform such a task manually, so we will resort to the help of a special application, the purpose of which is to automatically clean and optimize the registry.

Let's take a look at the work of the CCleaner program as an example. This is a free and handy application. First of all, download it and install it on your computer.

Run the application and familiarize yourself with the main program window. Find the item "Registry" in the left pane, its icon is a flying blue cube. Click on it. In the panel "Registry integrity", which is located to the right of the icon, check all the boxes, this will allow the most complete cleaning of the registry. Then click the "Search for problems" button at the bottom of the window.
Step 4
Scanning progress is displayed at the top of the main program window, in the form of a filling bar. As the scan proceeds, items of invalid registry entries will appear in the list. Wait for the scan to finish.
Step 5
After completing the scanning process, click the "Fix" button. The program will prompt you to save backup copies of the changes you made. Click Ok. Thanks to this, it will be possible to restore the registry if, after cleaning, the computer will work worse.
Step 6
In the next window, the program will offer you solutions to the problems found. "Fix" button - fixes one item from the list. The button "Fix marked" - automatically corrects all found errors marked in the list. By default, all items in the list are checked; you can change this if you wish. By clicking on the checkmark, remove the mark from those that you wish to leave unchanged. In the usual case, it is recommended to click the "Fix Selected" button. When finished, click the "Close" button. Close the program window.
