The "Language Bar" enables the user to perform text input tasks and switch between different languages. It can be positioned anywhere on the screen, made semi-transparent, or minimized to an icon on the taskbar. Novice users may have a question about how to bring up the language bar.

Instructions

Step 1

Most often, the language bar is located in the notification area on the taskbar. It looks like a badge with the letters RU or EN (or the image of the Russian or American flag). If you don't see the language bar icon, expand the notification area. To do this, click on the arrow icon on the right side of the taskbar.

Step 2

If you don't see the language bar icon even when you expand the notification area, customize its display. To do this, right-click in any free space on the taskbar and select the "Toolbars" item in the drop-down menu, and in the submenu, check the box in the "Language bar" line.

Step 3

To customize the language bar, open the Control Panel from the Start menu. In the "Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options" category, select the "Regional and Language Options" component.

Step 4

In the window that opens, go to the "Languages" tab and click on the "Details" button in the "Languages and text input services" section. An additional window will open. Go to the "Options" tab and click on the "Language bar" button. In the Language Bar Options window, customize its display as you see fit.

Step 5

Close additional windows sequentially by clicking on the OK button in each window. In the "Regional and Language Options" window, click on the "Apply" button and close it by clicking on the OK button or the "X" icon in the upper right corner of the window.

Step 6

If an automatic language switching utility, such as Punto Switcher, is installed on your computer, its icon replaces the standard language bar icon. The principle of working with such an icon is similar to that described above.

Step 7

To configure the utility and the way it is displayed, call the.exe file through the "Start" menu or from the directory where the utility is saved. In the "General" section on the "General" tab, set the markers in the fields you need. Click on the "Apply" button for the new settings to take effect.
