The "resolution" parameter for a graphic file is closely related to its quality; it indicates how many image elements, information units, per unit of length or area of a given picture. The more there are, the sharper the image will be. In order to correctly select the optimal ratio between the resolution and the physical size of the image to be printed, you need to change the file resolution. A low value will result in a mosaic picture, and a high value will lead to excessive technological stress.

Step 1
If you need to change the resolution of the image file that is displayed on the screen, then launch a graphic image editor, for example, Adobe Photoshop, open the image you are looking for and on the main panel located at the top, click "Image" -> "Image size". In the window that appears, check the box "Maintain aspect ratio" and write the value 72 in the "Resolution" field. Click the "OK" button.
Step 2
If you need to adjust the resolution for printing, then after loading the image, in the same window "Image size" select the unit of measurement for the dimensions of the printed hard copy - (inches, centimeters) and change the resolution to the one that is necessary.
