Instructions

Step 1

If you have forgotten the password for the administrator account in the Windows XP operating system, create a new account. To do this, restart your computer by clicking the Reset button. An abnormal shutdown is required for the troubleshooting menu to appear.

Step 2

After opening the specified menu, select "Windows Safe Mode". Press the Enter key and select any of the available options to start the operating system safe mode. Wait a while until the login account selection menu appears.

Step 3

Find an account named "Administrator" among other standard accounts. Most likely, you don't need to enter a password to sign in with this account. Log in to Windows and wait for the desktop to load.

Step 4

Press the "Start" key and select the "Control Panel" menu. Go to User Accounts. After opening a new window, click the "Create Account" button.

Step 5

Enter a name for your new account and click Next. In the window "Select the type of account" activate the item "Administrator" and click the "Next" button. Enter the password for this account twice. Click the Finish button. You can now restart your computer and log in using your new account.

Step 6

If you do not want to create a new account, simply disable the password for the desired user. To do this, in the "User Accounts" menu, select "Change Account". Select the account you want. Now press the button "Delete password" and confirm the execution of this procedure.

Step 7

Open the Start menu and select Turn Off Computer. Click the Restart button. Wait for the Windows operating system to start normally. Log in to the OS using an available account.
