Enabling the on-screen keyboard is a standard procedure for all versions of Windows operating systems. This feature can be useful when a normal keyboard malfunctions. The operation does not require the involvement of additional software and is carried out by the standard means of the system itself.
Instructions
Step 1
Use the search function to enable the onscreen keyboard. To do this, open the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button and type "on-screen keyboard" in the text field of the search bar. Confirm the selected action by clicking the "Find" button and expand the found link.
Step 2
Use an alternative method to enable the onscreen keyboard. Return to the main Start menu and go to All Programs. Expand the Standard link and expand the Accessibility node. Select the "On-Screen Keyboard" item.
Step 3
Open the "Options" menu in the keyboard window that opens and apply the checkbox in the line of the desired settings: - pressing keys - to use soft keys when entering text; - hovering the pointer over the keys - to use the mouse cursor when entering text; - scanning keys - for automatic selection areas of possible introduction of keyboard symbols. Confirm saving of the changes made by clicking OK.
Step 4
Configure advanced settings for the onscreen keyboard. For key presses to be accompanied by a sound, apply the checkbox in the line "Sound confirmation" and confirm your choice by pressing the OK button. To use numeric characters when typing, select the checkbox in the "Enable numeric keypad" line and apply the changes by clicking the OK button.
Step 5
Use the text prediction feature to display possible word variations the user is typing. To do this, in the "Options" menu, you will need to apply the checkbox in the "Use text prediction" line and confirm the application of the changes made by clicking the OK button. Uncheck the "Insert space after predicted words" line if you do not plan to use this function in automatic mode, and confirm your choice by clicking OK.
