More and more Russians are turning to their roots. There are more and more people appealing to the request to restore the stream of the photograph on which their ancestors are depicted. With minimal knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, anyone can independently retouch such a photo and breathe new life into it.
Instructions
Step 1
Scan your old photo and open it in Adobe Photoshop. The photo is automatically placed on the "background" layer. Create a copy of this layer immediately: right-click on it. In the drop-down menu select "duplicate layer" and click "ok".
Step 2
Old photographs tend to turn yellow. To get rid of the yellow bloom, you need to take the photo in black and white. To do this, follow the path "image - correction - grayscale". Now you have two layers: one is a yellow "background" layer, the other is a black and white "background copy" layer. We continue to work with the second layer.
Step 3
Take the Healing Brush Tool. The size of the brush should be small, especially for small details. Set the following settings: overlap mode "normal", source "sample", select "active layer" for the sample. Find the whole area of the photo next to the defect to be removed (crack, scratch, grease). Click with the mouse on the blank area while holding down the "Alt" key. The brush took a sample from this area. Now release "Alt" and, like a normal brush, start painting over the aging marks. You need to act very carefully. Take a sample with the Alt key as often as possible. This is necessary so that the color with which you paint over a crack or paint a missing area is the most suitable for this area.
Step 4
You can use the patch tool to repair large, solid areas. Select with this tool the whole area of the photo and drag this selection onto the damaged part of the photo. The defect should disappear. Save the recovered photo in the best quality. Leave the original photo too. It may come in handy someday.
Step 5
Sometimes it can be very difficult to bring an old photo to its proper form. But with enough effort and extreme care, you will soon be able to frame the updated image in a visible place.
