Find and recover an unsaved Microsoft Office 2010 document (or view a previous version) is possible thanks to the autosave function of the file at specified intervals. This applies to all documents created in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Instructions
Step 1
Open the Office program in which the document was created.
Step 2
Select the "File" tab in the program menu.
Step 3
Use the "Recent Files" line in the dropdown menu.
Step 4
Select Recover Unsaved Documents, Recover Unsaved Workbooks, or Recover Unsaved Presentations for Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, respectively.
Step 5
Select the required file in the window that opens with the saved versions of documents.
Step 6
Click the "Open" button.
Step 7
Select a name and format for saving the file in the "Save As" service menu in the toolbar of the application window.
Alternatively, you can use another method to find and recover files.

Open the Office program that created the document and select any document.
Step 9
Click the "Details" button in the "File" menu of the program window.

Select "Version Control" from the drop-down menu.

Select Recover Unsaved Documents (for Word files), Recover Unsaved Workbooks (for Excel files), or Recover Unsaved Presentations (for PowerPoint files).

Select the document you are looking for from the list of unsaved versions that opens.

Apply the "Save As" option in the service menu of the toolbar of the program window.
Almost the same algorithm is applied when restoring a document that was closed without saving the changes made.

Open the file you want.

From the program menu, select File and click the Info button.

Select the latest revision of the document in the "Versions" section.

Select the "Restore" field in the toolbar of the program window. Please note that all previous revisions of the document will be updated to the selected version.
