When an operating system is loaded on a computer, a set of certain components, services and programs is loaded along with it. Not all of them can be in demand. Plus, they can use up a lot of your PC's resources. Therefore, by disabling unnecessary programs and components, you can free up computer resources. Also, a full load of the operating system will be faster.

Instructions

Step 1

To configure the autorun of the operating system, you can use the built-in utility. You can start it like this. Click Start. Then select "All Programs" and "Standard Programs". In standard programs, click on "Command Line". At the command prompt, enter msconfig. This will launch the System Configuration window.

Step 2

In the first tab "General" you can select the type of loading the operating system. This is either "Normal startup", which means loading all components, or "Diagnostic startup", when only basic services and components will be loaded.

Step 3

There is also a "Selective launch" item. If you check it, then from below you will need to select those operating system components that will be loaded automatically. Components that you do not check will not start. For example, if you do not check the box next to "Load startup items", then none of these items will be loaded. Thus, you can independently choose which components will run together with the operating system.

Step 4

You can also configure the autostart of operating system services. To do this, go to the "Services" tab. A list of active services appears. If you want to disable a specific service, then simply uncheck the box next to its name. Now it will not load.

Step 5

After going to the "Startup" tab, you will be able to configure the loading of additional components of various programs. The principle of enabling / disabling is the same: check or uncheck the box.

Step 6

In the "Boot" tab, you can configure additional boot parameters for the operating system, for example, select boot options for the OS in safe mode. After all the necessary startup settings are selected, click "Apply" and OK.
