Personal computer users who changed their operating system from Windows XP to Windows Seven were frustrated by disabling the function to clear the paging file (page file) before restarting (rebooting) the system. Step 1
Virtual memory is used to support real RAM. When an object is no longer needed, it is automatically moved to the paging file. And when the program is closed, the files it uses are completely removed from the paging file. This was the case in Windows XP. Also, clearing the paging file can guarantee the safe use of operating system components. Some viruses work with the swap file, clinging to files that are about to be closed.
Step 2
In order to enable the function of clearing the paging file during shutdown of the operating system, you must use the "Local Security Policy" tool.

Turn on your computer and start Windows Seven with administrator rights.

Click the Start menu - go to the search bar - type secpol.msc - then press Enter.

On the left side of the "Local Security Policy" tool, click "Security Options" - then select "Local Policies" - "Security Options".
Step 6
In the right block of the running tool, find the item "Shutdown" - "Clear the paging file of virtual memory" - activate this item.
Step 7
Go to the Local Security Option tab - select Enabled - click OK.
Step 8
When this item is enabled, the paging file is cleared at system shutdown.
