Modern operating systems support the ability to customize the interface. Each of us can customize the look of the system to our liking: install additional themes, change the look of the desktop and program windows, and change the look of folders.

Step 1
Disable thumbnail previews inside a folder to change icons in Windows 7. To do this, go to the main menu using the "Start" button, then to the "Control Panel" and select the following menu - "System performance and performance settings" - by double-clicking.
Step 2
If you have an English version of the Windows 7 operating system installed on your computer, then select the Performance options item. In the window that appears on the screen, uncheck the box next to Show thumbnails instead of icons. Click the Apply button. There is also the ability to control the effects of the operating system.
Step 3
Replace the default folder icon in the registry, for this you need to log in with administrator rights. Click the "Start" button, select the "Run" command, type Regedit in the line. The Registry Editor will start.
Step 4
To be able to change icons in Windows 7, in the list on the left, find the Hkey_Local_Machine section, there go to the following path: SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion - and go to the Explorer branch. At this point, create a folder called Shell Icons to replace the icons.
Step 5
Go to the created folder, in the right part of the window, right-click, select "New", then - "Line example". Put the number 3 in its name and press Enter. Click on the created parameter with the right mouse button, enter the "Change" option.
Step 6
Specify the path in the value to the *.ico file from which you want to use the icons, or the library file. Click OK. Close Registry Editor, restart your computer, or change user. Trace the replacement icons in the folder list and on the right side of Windows Explorer. To return the old icons, delete the "3" key created in the registry.
