One of the tools of modern operating systems that play a key role in ensuring security is a firewall (firewall). Windows operating systems have a built-in firewall that blocks almost all programs and services by default. When you configure your computer to work with a network and then use it, many ports, services and applications can be unblocked. But how do you block the program with the firewall again?

Instructions

Step 1

Open the control panel. To do this, click on the "Start" button, which is located in the taskbar of the desktop. In the menu that opens, select the "Settings" item, in the child menu, click on the "Control Panel" item.

Step 2

Find the Windows Firewall shortcut in the Control Panel window that appears. If the mode of displaying items by category is activated in the control panel, click on the "Network and Internet Connections" link. Find the shortcut in the list by looking at the item names. To make the search more efficient, you can switch to the "Table" display mode (for this you need to click on the corresponding item in the "View" section of the main menu) and sort the list by the "Name" column.

Step 3

Open the Windows built-in firewall management interface. Double click on the "Windows Firewall" shortcut or right-click on the shortcut and select "Open" in the context menu.

Step 4

Find the program you want to block. In the firewall management window, switch to the Exceptions tab. Review the list of Programs and Services. Highlight the item corresponding to the program to be blocked.

Step 5

Make sure the highlighted item in the exclusion list matches the application you want to block. Click on the Change button in the Windows Firewall window. The "Change program" dialog will open. The Path field will contain the full path to the application executable file. If this particular program needs to be blocked, proceed to the next step. If it is not the correct program, skip to step 4 for further search.

Step 6

Block the program with a firewall. Uncheck the box next to the program name in the Name box of the Programs and Services list. Click the OK button in the Windows Firewall dialog.
