Instructions
Step 1
Download and install the specialized WinSetupFromUSB application on your computer. Launch the program and specify your removable USB drive in the opened application window.
Step 2
Use the built-in Bootice utility to create a bootable partition on the drive and click the Parts Manage button. Select the ReFormat USB disk command in the Operation section and apply the checkboxes in the USB-HDD mode and Allign to cylinder fields of the dialog box that opens.
Step 3
Confirm saving the changes made by clicking Next, and select NTFS in the drop-down menu of the File System line of the new dialog box. Type the desired volume name on the Vol Label line and confirm your choice with OK.
Step 4
Wait for the disk formatting procedure to complete and return to the main Bootice utility window. Refresh the USB data by clicking the Refresh button and use the Process MBR button that appears.
Step 5
Apply the checkbox to the GRUB4DOS 0.4.5b MBR box in the next dialog box and click the Install / Config button. Use the Save to Disk button in the next window and confirm the selected action in the system warning window by clicking OK.
Step 6
Return to the main Bootice utility window again and click the Process PBR button. Apply the checkbox to the GRUB4DOS 0.4.5b field in the dialog box that opens and confirm your choice by clicking the Install / Config button. Click OK in the last window of the application and exit the utility.
Step 7
Return to the main window of the WinSetupFromUSB application and specify the path to the Windows XP installation files in the Windows XP Setup line. Also specify the path to the Hirens Boot CD image in the Parted Magic … line. Press the GO button.
Step 8
Wait for the Job Done message to appear and exit the application. Disconnect the drive and then start booting from it. Specify the Windows XP Setup item in the opened GRUB4Dos bootloader window and select First Part … in the next dialog box.
Step 9
After the reboot is complete, continue booting from the removable media and select the Second Part … item. In the next dialog box, use the Start HBCD … command and select the "Partitioning disks" item in the final bootloader window.
