The password at the entrance to the operating system of your computer helps protect confidential information and blocks unauthorized access to programs, folders and files. However, if you forgot your password, lost the sheet on which it was written, or the password was changed by accident, access will be closed for you as well as for anyone else. It's good that there is a way to get out of this situation and again become the master of your computer with all the data stored in it.

Instructions
Step 1
Password recovery for an account with user rights on Windows OS.
XP Home
Restart your computer and press the F8 key before Windows initializes.
Select Safe Boot Mode and press Enter.
Replace the username with "Administrator" or "administrator". By default, this account is not password protected, so you don't need to enter any numbers or letters in the Password field, just click OK.
A message will appear stating that Windows is in Safe Mode. Agree with this.
Now go to the "Start" button, select "Control Panel" there, and in it "User Accounts".
Select the icon of the account for which you have lost the password. A dialog box will appear, which prompts you, among other things, to change the password. Take this opportunity and don't forget to write down your new password somewhere.
Select the Change Password button and restart your computer.
XP Professional and Vista
Turn on the computer and log in as "administrator" or "Administrator". When the standard Windows welcome screen appears, press the Ctrl, alt="Image" and Del keys on your keyboard at the same time.
Select the "Change Password" button and find the username you need. Enter the new password twice and, confirming this action, click "OK". Reboot and log in with your username and new password.
Step 2
Password recovery for an account with Administrator rights.
If you have other accounts with limited access on your computer, log in through them.
Select the Start button and run Run.
In the "Open" line, type control userpasswords2 and press the "Enter" button on the keyboard or "OK" on the computer screen.
The User Accounts window appears. You need the Users tab.
Select from the list the username for which you have lost the password and click the "Change password" button.
Step 3
Mac OS
Locate and insert the Mac OS X disc into your computer's DVD.
Restart your computer, when the gray startup screen appears, press and hold the "C" key.
Choose language.
Open the menu at the top of the screen and select Reset Password.
Highlight the icon of your master hard drive in the pop-up window.
Open the drop-down menu and select the username for whose account you forgot the password.
Enter a new password and enter it twice in the appropriate fields. Click "Save" and restart your computer.
