In Photoshop, the same action can often be performed in several ways. Interface customization is no exception. If you are more accustomed to working with the menu bar, select the "View" item and set a marker in the drop-down list opposite the "Rulers" item.

If you prefer to work with hotkeys and have not changed the default program settings, press the Ctrl and R keys combination. The ruler will be displayed along two axes: X and Y, that is, along the width and height of the window.

Step 3

In accordance with the preset parameters, the unit of measure of the ruler that appears will be centimeters, however, you can change the settings at any time by selecting inches, millimeters, pixels or percentages. To set the desired units of measurement, right-click anywhere on the ruler, a drop-down menu will open. Select the desired item in it by clicking on it with the left mouse button.

In addition to the ruler as part of the interface, the Adobe Photoshop editor has a tool with the same name. It helps to precisely set the coordinates of the starting point, calculate the length and width of the fragment, determine the angle. This tool can be selected either on the panel or by pressing hot keys.

To select the Ruler tool, make sure that the Toolbar is displayed in the editor window, move the cursor over the Eyedropper tool and click on its icon the button in the form of a small triangle. The submenu expands. Select the item with the Ruler tool in it.

Step 6

To invoke the Ruler tool using hotkeys, press and hold Shift, then press the I key until the Rulers icon appears in the selected tools instead of the Eyedropper icon.
