The Windows operating system version 7 provides the ability to change the sound patterns that are played when certain user actions. One of these actions is the launch of the system. Changing this sound can be performed using standard tools of the OS itself.
Instructions
Step 1
To change the pre-installed sound scheme of the Windows version 7 operating system, open the main menu by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "Control Panel" item. Type "sound" in the text box of the search bar and expand the found item. Find the desired sound scheme in the list of audio themes and confirm your choice by pressing the OK button.
Step 2
To replace the logon sound with one that is not listed, you must have computer administrator rights and be the owner of the Windows / system32 / imageres.dll file. Also, make sure that the selected sound is saved in.wav format, as other formats will not be played by the system.
Step 3
Return to the main system menu "Start" and go to the "Programs" item, open the "Accessories" link and launch the "Windows Explorer" application. Find a file named Windows / system32 / imageres.dll and copy it to any convenient location on your computer.
Step 4
Open the file with any resource editor and replace the.wav component with the one you want. Replace the original file with the edited one, keeping its name. Return to the Sound dialog box and use the Browse button at the bottom of the window. Make sure the edited file is selected and apply the Play Windows Startup Ringtone check box. Confirm the application of the changes made by clicking the OK button.
Step 5
Download and install the specialized Startup Sound Changer application on your computer to simplify and automate the procedure for changing the sound at system startup. Call the context menu of the installed program by clicking the right mouse button and select the "Run as administrator" item. In the main application window that opens, select the New Welcome Sound command and specify the full path to the saved file in.wav format.
