The fan (or cooler) is one of the important components of the computer system unit that provides cooling to the central processor. If the system unit is still very hot when the fan is running, you can change the initial cooling temperature.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn on the computer while holding down the Delete key or one of the function keys (F2, F5, or F8). This will launch the motherboard BIOS settings menu. It is here that the initial temperature of the fan is set. Go to the Advanced Configurations or Advanced Setup menu to make the appropriate changes.
Step 2
Find the item for changing the cooling parameters of the system. It is usually called Fan Mode. Enable the Always On option to prevent the fan from turning off automatically. Go to the Fan Speed item and specify the initial rotational speed of the cooler. First, make some small changes, and then test the performance of the computer and its temperature regime after turning on.
Step 3
Press F10 to save the applied changes and restart the computer. If, after increasing the fan speed, the system unit continues to get very hot, try taking such measures as lowering the processor frequency in the BIOS, and also clean the system unit from dust inside.
Step 4
Change the speed of the cooler using software methods. To do this, you can install the Speed Fan program, which allows you to set the appropriate parameters from the operating system. The most optimal solution is to activate the item "Auto adjustment". This way the application will control the fan operation depending on the current temperature and the load on the internal components of the computer.
Step 5
If, despite the measures taken, the computer continues to get very hot, consider buying a new, larger and more powerful fan, since the old one may be too small to maintain the optimal temperature in the system unit. To choose the cooler model that is optimal in terms of functionality, follow the instructions for the processor, motherboard and other components.
