Very often, personal computer users are faced with the problem of burning DVDs. This is primarily due to the lack of additional software in Windows XP and earlier operating systems. Also, the drive may simply not support the recording function.
It is necessary
- - Internet access;
- - programs for recording, for example, Nero or any other convenient for you.
Instructions
Step 1
Look at the front of the drive:, it should say DVD-R / DVD-RW. If the first option is written, it means that the drive can only read discs, not write them. The RW mark stands for ReWritable, which means that it can also write information.
Step 2
The front of the drive may not always show the complete markings, it is best to check them in Device Manager. To do this, open "My Computer", right-click on the space free of shortcuts, select "Properties". You will have a new window with several tabs, open "Hardware".
Step 3
At the top right you will see the "Device Manager" button, click on it and view the list of available hardware in your computer's configuration. Find your floppy drive there, rewrite the model name. Open a web browser, use the search to find information about the drive you have, it is best to look at it on the manufacturer's website. All options will be listed there, including the ability to burn DVDs.
Step 4
If your computer is running Windows XP, the standard operating system applications are not sufficient to burn discs, so use third-party software such as Nero or CD Burner XP. They are quite easy to use, have an intuitive interface and contain all the necessary settings that you may need to burn discs. They also show the parameters of your drive, its model and recording capabilities. It is best to use licensed copies of programs downloaded from the manufacturers' official websites.
