The serial number is used when installing computer programs and serves as protection against their unauthorized distribution. In another way it is called "activation code" or "registration key". As a rule, it is a set of letters and numbers. It is impossible to complete the installation process without this number.
Instructions
Step 1
Start installing the program on your computer. Follow the instructions in the dialog box until you are prompted to enter the serial number. In this case, you will see a special field or several fields where you need to enter this number from the computer keyboard.
Step 2
Find the serial number of your program. It can be located on the original disc with the program, on the packaging or in the accompanying documentation.
Typically, these programs can be used free of charge for a limited time, for example, 15 days. Then the program is blocked, but a special information window appears. It says on which site you can purchase a license in order to use the program further. In this case, the serial number can be obtained via the Internet, on the official website of the program developer.
Step 3
Enter your activation code in the dialog box and follow the instructions of the program installer. If the code is entered without errors, the program will be installed on the computer and can be used. The activation code can be permanent or temporary. The permanent code makes it possible to use the program without time limits.
The temporary code gives you access to the program for some time, for example, one year. After that, the program will be blocked again and you will have to re-purchase an activation code for further use of the program.
