With all the variety of printing equipment on the market, it is difficult to decide which printer to buy. To do this, it is worthwhile to figure out what kind of printers are.
Instructions
Step 1
Jet printer
An inkjet printer is the best choice for home use when you need to print a report to a child, documents for work, etc. For everyday use, inkjet printers are not very suitable, this is due to the printing technology. Inkjet printers use liquid ink that comes in both black and color. The main problem with their use is the volume of the cartridge, which is enough for a maximum of 500 standard A4 sheets. Also in some models of inkjet printers ink dries up with occasional irregular use. In the best case, you will need to replace the cartridge, in the worst case - replacement of the printing elements due to clogging of the printer nozzles with thickened ink.
But, nevertheless, if the printer is purchased for home use as a lifesaver for performing one-time household tasks, then an inkjet printer will be the best choice. The main manufacturers are the following companies: Hewlett Packard (HP), Canon, Samsung, Epson.
Step 2
Laser printer
If the printer is used every day, tasks are set to print large volumes of documents, it is worth making a choice in favor of a laser printer. Cartridges in such printers are not liquid, they are filled with special dye particles, which, when printed, fall on a magnetized photo drum and then are sprayed on the paper in specified places, according to the print job.
Some modern laser printers use ink particles that are already magnetic, so the print speed is much faster with these printers. One cartridge can be enough for several thousand print pages. The main manufacturers of laser printers are Xerox, Hewlett Packard (HP), Samsung, Brother.
Step 3
Matrix printer
This type of printer is the progenitor of inkjet and laser printers. Dot matrix printers are practically uncommon today. Their work is based on the impact printing method, in which images and symbols on paper appear due to hundreds of microscopic needles on the print head. They, in contact with the paper, release the dye from the ends of the needles.
These printers are rarely used in practice due to their bulkiness, high noise level and low print performance.
Step 4
A special type of printers are multifunctional devices (MFPs), which include not only a printing device, but also a scanner and copier. MFPs are both laser and inkjet. There is now an increased demand for them due to their versatility and wide range of applications.
