The gamepad - or, in the common people, the "joystick", is the main means of controlling games on consoles. Therefore, it is not surprising that an increasing number of PC players are "transplanted" to gaming devices, despite the fact that these often require complex calibration.
Instructions
Step 1
Check the compatibility of your controller. With the advent of the Xbox360, a small revolution took place on the joystick market - the device's operating algorithm was completely changed. Games for Windows products such as Gears of War, Mirror's Edge, and even Super Meat Boy cannot work with older controllers (Logitech RumblePad 2). New models are conventionally referred to as "360-compatible" and are marked "compatible with Windows". In practice, such a signature guarantees that the gamepad will be adequately recognized by all modern games, without exception, which is very important when you start setting up.
Step 2
The basic way to configure control is through the in-game menu "Options" -> "Settings" -> "Control" -> "Controller". If this is not provided, then try to find a configurator program in the game folder, which runs separately from the product (they are used mainly with ported console games). If this is not provided for, ask for help on the Internet forum - for sure you can find there an amateur program for editing control.
Step 3
To pass off an old joystick model as a new one, use a special program. The service was created recently and is still in the beta stage, so it may cause some difficulties with the installation. After downloading the archive to "disguise" the gamepad, you will need to replace several system files (which are responsible for the operation algorithm) and use the graphical configurator to make sure the settings are correct. It is worth noting that this method works often, but not always: for example, sometimes the left stick axis remains inverted, which is very unpleasant.
Step 4
joystick in general, so all compatibility problems go away "at once". However, this layout may not be very convenient if the gameplay when using the mouse is significantly different from the controller (the presence of an auto-aim, for example).
