If you decide to record a conversation on Skype or try your hand at creating an audiobook, then it will not be superfluous to learn how to record sounds on a computer using a microphone.
Instructions
Step 1
Owners of desktop computers will have to start the recording process by connecting a microphone to a sound card. If you are using a laptop, you can record using the built-in microphone.
Step 2
The Windows operating system has a preinstalled program for recording sound, which can be found through the menu "Start" - "All Programs" - "System Tools" - "Sound Recorder". By launching the application and pressing the "Record" button, you will begin the recording process, which can be stopped by pressing the "Stop" button. After that, you will be prompted to select a location to save the resulting file and give it a name.
Step 3
The lack of a choice of file format, as well as the mediocre recording quality of the Sound Recorder, forces you to search for third-party applications. On the Internet, you can find a large number of programs that help to record with a microphone of really high quality: Adobe Audition, Total Recorder, Atropos-SB, Autorecorder, Free Audio Recorder, etc. Working with any of these programs is straightforward. Using the example of the Free Audio Recorder program, which can be downloaded at www.freeaudiorecorder.net, take a look at the recording process using a microphone
Step 4
Install the program and run it. By default, the program's settings are set to record sound through a microphone in MP3 format with good quality. Optionally, you can go to the Recording and Output tabs to select other settings, as well as the folder where the files will be saved. Press the Record Sound button to start recording, and press Pause or Stop to pause or stop, respectively.
