BIOS (Basic Input Output System) - stores all the basic settings of the computer. This includes the system time, frequencies of the processor, system bus and RAM, operating modes of various devices built into the motherboard, the order in which disks are loaded at computer startup, and much more. Therefore, it is often necessary to go into the BIOS settings.

Instructions

Step 1

When the computer boots up, information first appears about the video card, its manufacturer, the amount of installed video memory, etc. After that, a computer self-test window appears on the screen, in which it checks all devices connected to it, including RAM. Then on the screen you will see a prompt to enter BIOS settings. It is important not to miss this moment, because otherwise, you can try to enter the BIOS again only after a complete restart of the computer or after turning it on again.

Step 2

The BIOS prompt itself may look different, but it usually indicates which key to press to enter the settings. By default, this is the DEL key, but there are others depending on the manufacturer of the BIOS and motherboard. These can be F1, F12 or whole combinations, for example, the combination Ctrl + Alt + Esc. Entering the BIOS is often accompanied by informational messages. For example, you may see Entering BIOS Setup or other similar text on the screen. If you see such a message, then wait five to ten seconds, which are required for the user interface to load, after which you will be taken to the BIOS screen.

Step 3

So, after the prompt appears, press the appropriate key, after which you will be taken to the BIOS settings. You can also read about which button to press in the manual for your computer or motherboard.

Step 4

If the monitor has not yet warmed up (important for many cathode-ray monitors), you do not see the picture on the screen, then proceed as follows: immediately after turning on the computer, often press the key that is necessary to enter the BIOS. This will guarantee that your press will not be lost and will certainly work out when the system is expecting this action.
