The video card is a kind of heart of the computer. It is she who is responsible for building the image on the screen. For some users, it may not work for various reasons, but still want to play on a computer.
Video adapters
There are several types of video cards - integrated (that is, built-in) and discrete. Integrated video cards can either come with processors from Intel and AMD, or be built directly into the computer's motherboard. Of course, built-in video adapters cannot be found on store shelves, as they usually come complete with a laptop or computer.
Discrete graphics cards are more expensive and can be purchased at a store and installed on your computer. In addition, discrete adapters differ in their performance. They are an order of magnitude better than the built-in ones in many parameters (for example, resolution, memory size, type of cooling, etc.).
Can I play games without a video adapter?
The video card, like other components, can break. This can lead to many problems. For example, one of them is that the computer (turned on) will not display absolutely nothing on the monitor screen, or the computer simply will not turn on. Consequently, the user can neither work nor play games on such a PC.
As mentioned above, there are computers with an integrated graphics core. It is this that will allow you to play games on a computer if there is no discrete video card, or if it is broken. The integrated chipset will automatically start after removing or disconnecting another graphics card.
One important nuance should be noted - most modern games are quite demanding on system resources, including the video card. Integrated varieties are rather weak - they have a small amount of memory and resolution, but if necessary, they are the only way out of the situation. Without a video card, the user simply will not be able to use the computer, since the screen will not display anything.
If this kind of video adapter is inherent in the system, then the user will be able to work and play some games, but with one significant caveat - demanding graphics applications will not work. Thus, it remains possible to either play browser games (flash games), or install old ones that will not require the impossible from the system.
As a result, it turns out that without a video card, the owner of the PC will not be able to play games - not even be able to start the computer and see the operating system loading screen. You can get out of this situation only with the help of a built-in video card or buying a new discrete one.
