Step 1
Connect your computer and laptop into a single network. It is best to use a network cable for this. This will significantly reduce your costs compared to buying a Wi-Fi adapter. Another plus of the cable connection is the high data transfer rate (up to 100 Mbps). Purchase a twisted pair cable of the correct length. Connect its connectors to the network adapters of your computer and laptop.
Step 2
Turn on both devices and wait for them to boot up. Open the Network and Sharing Center on your computer. Select the Change adapter settings menu. Go to the properties of the network card connected to the laptop. Open the TCP / IPv4 Internet Protocol Settings. Set this network card to a static IP address.
Step 3
Perform the same configuration for the network adapter of the mobile computer, changing the last segment of the IP address. Now configure the sharing settings on your laptop. This is necessary so that the computer can access certain folders on the laptop.
Step 4
Open the Network and Sharing Center, select "Change sharing settings." Select the profile you are currently using, such as Home or Work. Expand its menu and activate the "Enable network discovery" item. Now in the sub-item "Access to shared folders" select the "Enable" option. Click the "Save Changes" button.
Step 5
Open the local drive where you will copy files from your computer. Create a new folder and share it. Select Read and Write. Go to your computer and press the Win and R keys. Enter / 100.100.100.2 in the field that opens. In this case, the numbers represent the laptop's IP address. Open a public folder and copy the information you want there.
