Instructions

Step 1

Configure the display of hidden items and file extensions on your computer. To do this, go to Control Panel and select "Folder Options" from the menu. Go to the appearance settings tab, scroll down the list and towards the end uncheck the option "Hide extensions for registered file types". Scroll down the list and check the box next to Show hidden folders and files. Apply the changes and close the windows by clicking the "OK" button.

Step 2

Go to the computer search. Enter the keyword config.cfg, search for hidden and system folders in the parameters. Specify an approximate location, for example, a local drive with a folder where the installation files were unpacked. Hit Enter.

Step 3

After the results are displayed, right-click on each of them in turn in order to navigate to the folder containing this object. Check in the address bar that the directory belongs to Counter Srtike and not to any other program. Also pay attention to the file extension, it should be.cfg.

Step 4

When you find the location of the file you need, right-click on it and select Properties from the context menu. Uncheck the Read Only option and apply the changes. In the game settings, select the Default option. After that, the settings of the Counter Strike game will return to their original state.

Step 5

Please note that in some cases it may be necessary to reboot the system after unsetting the configuration file setting, so it is best to do it manually right away. Restoring the original settings does not delete the installed patches and mods, only returns the graphics, controls, player settings, and so on.
