The Microsoft Windows operating system provides the ability to protect data and restrict access to information contained on a computer. Before each boot, the system asks for a password, and a person who does not know it will not be able to use the computer. There are several steps you need to take to set a password.
Instructions
Step 1
First, come up with a password that you yourself will not forget in the future. If necessary, write it down on a piece of paper, but then do not keep your notes in the immediate vicinity of the computer, otherwise setting a password will not make any sense.
Step 2
Call the "Control Panel" through the "Start" menu. In the "User Accounts" category, either select the "Change Account" task or click on the "User Accounts" icon. A new window will open.
Step 3
In the new window, select the "Computer Administrator" account by clicking on the corresponding icon with the left mouse button. In a new window asking "What do you want to change in your account?" select the Create Password task.
Step 4
In the first field "Enter new password" enter the password that you will use when logging into the system. In the second field “Enter password for confirmation”, re-enter the password you just entered. Note that this case is case-sensitive (capitalization and capitalization).
Step 5
The third field is optional. However, if you are not sure that you can quickly remember your password, use this field to create a hint. When doing this, keep in mind that the tooltip will be visible to all users who try to log in.
Step 6
Click on the "Create Password" button. You will be prompted to make your files and folders private. Read the explanation explaining why this is needed and choose one of the options: either “Yes, make them personal” or “No”.
Step 7
This completes the creation of the password. The next time you log in, enter your password in the appropriate field and click on the "Login" button. If you are using a screen saver, you can strengthen your computer's protection.
Step 8
Call the "Display" component and on the "Screensaver" tab set the marker in the "Password protection" field. After that, the password that you use when you log on to the system will also be asked when it will be necessary to return the computer to active mode after the splash screen appears.
