Step 1
The first and simple step is to get a USB-PC / 2 adapter. It is inexpensive - it pleases instantly. Plug a USB keyboard into it and it into the PC / 2 computer port. The keyboard will be detected without problems, it will work happily ever after until it burns out. If extracting an adapter becomes an impossible task, you will have to tinker a bit in the BIOS.
Step 2
Many people know how to start dancing with tambourines in the great and mighty BIOS, those who are not familiar with the startup procedure, remember: after turning on, during testing the RAM, press Del before loading the operating system. In rare cases, you need to press another key so as not to make a mistake - follow the hint at the bottom of the screen. Press N to enter setup, instead of N, the desired key or combination will be written, which will bring you happiness to contemplate the BIOS settings window. Moreover, you will have to press the magic button on the old keyboard, because the new one is not recognized by the system.

There are several manufacturers of BIOS, and therefore the models are different. But the essence of the actions and the names in all versions are identical. In the I / O tabs, find the USB Controller and set the value to Enabled. Then point USB Keyboard Support (USB Legacy Support), mark Enabled. If there is an item USB Keyboard Support Via (Support for USB-keyboard through OC or BIOS), respectively, there are two values for OS and BIOS. If you need the keyboard to work only in the operating system (Windows), install the OS, if you want to work, for example, in DOS, you need to select the BIOS parameter, then you can change the settings using the keyboard in the BIOS as well.

It may be that your BIOS version does not support a USB keyboard. Then you will have to abandon it or reinstall the BIOS. Installing BIOS is not an easy task, and it is better to shift it onto the shoulders of a professional.
