Despite the fact that laptop repair is a difficult process, some problems can be fixed at home. These include the repair and replacement of the keyboard of a mobile computer.

Step 1
A laptop keyboard is usually secured in two main ways: using special latches or screws. Prepare the tools needed to remove the keyboard.
Step 2
Disconnect the mobile computer from AC power. Now remove the battery to avoid causing a short while repairing the device. Find out which product line your mobile computer belongs to.
Step 3
In Acer Extensa or TravelMate notebooks, the keyboard is secured with multiple screws. Using a flat head screwdriver or a metal spatula, remove the panel located between the keyboard and the matrix of the mobile computer.
Step 4
To do this, carefully undo a few latches. After removing the panel, remove the mounting screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Now slide the keyboard a little towards the display. Carefully lift up the side where the screws were located. Remove the keyboard and disconnect the ribbon cable by first pulling out the white plastic frame.
Step 5
The Acer Aspire series mobile computers have a fully latched keyboard. Gently press the mount near the Escape key towards the die. Lift the edge of the keyboard.
Step 6
Pull out the second top edge of the panel in the same way. A third latch may be located in the center of the keyboard. Sometimes it is slightly offset to the side. Remove the printed panel after unlocking all fasteners.
Step 7
Fold up the black frame holding the train. Disconnect the cables from the system board. Connect the ribbon cable of the new keyboard and install the printed circuit board. If you are using a keyboard from another laptop model, there may be a slight backlash during operation. To correct this problem, place a thin cloth under the print panel.
