There are many different options for connecting to the Internet: modem, leased line, optical fiber, or other methods. Often, the Internet connection is a local network at the entrance or the whole house, through which access is made. Knowing the network parameters, you can use its resources for all members of the subnet. There are several ways to view or determine the subnet.

Instructions

Step 1

The first is the command line definition. Click on the "Start" button in the lower left corner of the screen with the left mouse button. Select the menu item called "Run". Click on this lettering. A command line appears. Alternatively, find the search box that says Find Programs and Files, just above the Start Menu button.

Step 2

Type the command "cmd" to bring up the command prompt window and press the "Enter" key. A console window appears with white text on a black background.

Step 3

In the place of the blinking cursor, type the command "ipconfig" and press the "Enter" key. After a few seconds, you will see the text of the report on network connections and devices.

Step 4

Find the line with the text "IP address", it will contain four groups of numbers, separated from each other by a period. For example, the address might look like this: 192.168.150.222. The options can be very different. The third number in the IP address, in the example it is 150, will be the desired subnet. Below will be the IP address of the main gateway of your network, for example, this: 192.168.100.1. Also, the ipconfig command will display the subnet mask, that is, the range of possible addresses for your network (for example, 255.255.255.0).

Step 5

Another way for those who do not want to delve into the details of the commands. Or for those who share network connectivity with other users. In this case, it is best to determine the IP address and your subnet from the outside, that is, from the Internet. Open a web browser, it doesn't matter which one. In the address (top) bar of your browser, enter the following address: https://whois-service.ru/lookup/. This will open a page showing your external real IP address, along with the subnet class and subnet address mask. That is all the data you need

Step 6

Please note that there is a search bar at the top of the page that opens. Enter your IP address in this line and click on the arrow. Detailed information about your address, subnet, provider - all the data that you may need will be displayed.
