Instructions

Step 1

Radios from different manufacturers are generally similar in tuning, differ in some details, so let's take a Kenwood brand as an example. To program it, download the necessary utilities in advance and copy them to removable media.

Step 2

Next, connect the radio station to the computer using a special port or an optional cable-conductor purchased. The COM port must first be configured correctly, since COM 1 or COM2 port options can be used. To do this, install the driver for the adapter cable used on the computer, connect it and go to the control panel.

Step 3

Select in turn the folders "System", "Devices", "Device Manager", then select COM and LPT Ports and then Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port. Go to the properties of this function and go to "Port parameters", then to the "Advanced" folder, "COM port number", in which press COM 1 or COM2 and confirm the operation (OK). After that, you can start the radio station required for programming on the computer.

Step 4

To get to the desired menu, press the alt key, after which you can control the arrows. First, tune the running program to a specific radio station by successively pressing the Alt, Model and Enter keys and using the space bar select the required model, as well as the frequency limits. Having made your choice, press "Enter".

Step 5

Next, go to the menu using Program and Read from radio with the radio turned on. The launched program reads the data from the radio station, after which you can enter the frequencies that are needed to replace the existing ones.

Step 6

When all frequencies are already entered, press successively alt="Image" and Write to radio. Thus, all the necessary channels were programmed into the radio. To safely turn off the radio, press alt, File and exit in sequence, after which the switched off radio can be disconnected from the computer.
