Developing technologies have led to the emergence of completely new, not similar to their "ancestors" LCD screens, namely IPS-screens, which are many times superior to previous models.
IPS screen
IPS screens were designed and released quite recently. The appearance of this kind of screens made it possible to immediately solve two main problems of previous models, these are: a small viewing angle, in connection with which only one user could work at the computer, and others (for example, guests) could not see what exactly he was doing at the computer, and also solved the problem with poor color reproduction. This was achieved thanks to a new arrangement of crystals on the screen. In IPS-screens, they are located parallel to each other, along its entire plane. The main disadvantage of IPS-screens is their relative high cost. That is why TVs and monitors working with TN-TFT matrix, that is, devices with a plasma screen, are more popular in Russia.
Advantages of IPS-screens
As mentioned above, devices with an IPS screen have excellent color reproduction. For example, if black is displayed on the screen, then it will be black for TVs or monitors with an IPS screen, and for devices with a TN-TFT matrix, the black color will be grayish. As a result, it turns out that all colors that are displayed on IPS-screens have a higher saturation than other types of screens. The main advantages of such screens include the fact that, for example, TVs in sunny weather can be watched without any particular inconvenience. In other words, the IPS screen will be clearly visible even if the sun hits it, which is impossible to say about other types of screens. In addition, as mentioned above, with the change in the location of the crystals on the screen, the viewing angle also increased. Today, on average, it is about 178 °. As a result, no matter how a person looks at the screen, he will still clearly see the image, both on the left and on the right, both above and below.
Due to all these advantages, IPS-screens are now more and more used in the creation of high-definition TVs and monitors. Of course, it's up to everyone what to choose, either a device with an IPS-screen, or TN-TFT, which is too popular today. Summing up, we can say that the advantages of the latter include: a higher response speed than that of an IPS screen, a low cost of such devices, as well as their minimal power consumption. IPS-screens, in turn, have: high-quality color reproduction, high contrast and large viewing angles.
