Folder and file icons, as well as the expanded Start menu bar on the desktop, can appear in different ways. Beyond the borders around icons and panels on the desktop, there are various settings that can be changed at any time. The main thing is to know what and where to look.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the "Properties" - "Display" window. This can be done in several ways. Method one: right-click from the desktop in any place free from files and folders. Select "Properties" from the drop-down menu.
Step 2
Enter the "Control Panel" through the "Start" menu to use another method of calling this window. In the classic display of the panel, select the "Display" icon by clicking on it with the left mouse button. When the panel is displayed by category, select the "Appearance and themes" section, in the window that opens, click on the "Display" icon in the control panel icons category or select any task from the list located in the upper part of the window.
Step 3
Go to the "Appearance" tab in the "Display Properties" window that opens and click on the "Effects" button in the lower right corner of the window. In the called effect window, remove the marker from the "Show drop shadows from menus" field. Click the "OK" button to confirm the operation and close the window. In the Display Properties window, click Apply and OK to close the Display Properties window - these actions will remove the shadow from the Start menu bar.
Step 4
Click the Desktop tab in the Display Properties window to remove the pronounced dark borders around the icons. Click on the "Desktop Settings" button in the lower left corner of the window - the "Desktop Elements" window will open. In the window that opens, go to the "Web" tab by clicking on it with the left mouse button.
Step 5
Remove the marker from the "Fix desktop elements" field (click once in the field area or directly on the line itself with the left mouse button), confirm the operation by clicking on the "OK" button. In the "Properties: Display" window, click the "Apply" button and close the window by clicking on the "OK" button at the bottom of the window or the "X" button in the upper right corner of the window.
Step 6
Call the "System Properties" window to remove shadows from icons on the desktop. To do this, enter through the "Start" menu in the "Control Panel", select the "System" icon, go to the "Advanced" tab in the window that opens. In the "Performance" section, click the "Options" button and in the window that opens, remove the marker from the "Drop shadows on desktop icons" field. Click the "Apply" button, close the windows.
