Over time, the system disk becomes clogged with many unnecessary files: some remain after uninstalling programs, other temporary files may be the result of the work of these programs. For example, many computer monitoring programs can leave behind various reports, the results of which are saved in text documents. Also, over time, the operating system registry gets clogged. For normal and stable operation of Windows, the system disk needs to be cleaned from time to time.

Step 1
TuneUp Utilities provides excellent opportunities for optimizing your computer and cleaning your hard drive. Download it from the Internet and install it on your computer. Run the program. After the first launch, the program will scan the system and offer to fix the errors found. Agree to bug fixes.
Step 2
Then you will be taken to the main menu of the program, in which select the "Free up disk space" item. In the Hard Disk Cleanup window, click on the arrow and select your system drive. Below are the options for cleaning the disk. Click on the line "Unnecessary files". In the next window, click "Clear". All temporary files left after uninstalling programs will be deleted from the system disk. Also, the cache memory of Internet browsers will be cleared, log files, etc. will be deleted.

After completing the cleaning operation, you will again be taken to the program window, where you can select options for cleaning the disk. This time, select Old Backups as the option to clean up the disk. The cleaning procedure is the same. If the computer did not have any backup copies of the operating system files, this cleaning method will simply not be available.
Step 4
Now it remains to clear the registry. To do this, in the main menu of the program, select "System Optimization", and then in the maintenance tasks - "Registry Cleanup". In the next window, select "Full View", then - "Next". After completing the system scan, click on "Clean problems immediately" and click "Next". Then click "Finish". You will return to the previous program window.
Step 5
Next, in the maintenance tasks select "Remove non-working shortcuts". Wait while the system finishes scanning for unnecessary shortcuts. This will display shortcuts that refer to the system partition and other local drives. There is no need to delete the labels of each section in turn. Just click "Clear" and any broken shortcuts will be removed.
