The Windows operating system makes it possible to work with documents drawn up in different languages. You can switch input languages using the keyboard or language bar.
Instructions
Step 1
The key combination for switching to another language is set during the installation of the system. Usually the combination of Shift + Alt and Shift + Ctrl is offered to choose from. Press these keys to switch to English.
Step 2
You can also change the current language by left-clicking on the language bar in the taskbar tray and selecting En from the list. If during the installation of Windows you selected Russian as the main language, and now you want to change it to English, you can do this in the language bar settings.
Step 3
Right-click on the icon to bring up the drop-down menu and mark "Options …". In the "Default Input Language" section, expand the list and select "English". Confirm the change by clicking OK.
Step 4
Here you can also change the keyboard shortcut for language selection. Under Settings, click Keyboard Options. In the "More Options …" window, apply the "Change Keyboard Shortcut" to select the appropriate combination. In a new window, set the required combinations and click OK to confirm your choice.
Step 5
If there is no language bar in the tray, try to restore it. In the "Control Panel" expand the "Regional and Language Options" node and go to the "Languages" tab. Click "Details", then under "Settings", "Language bar". Put the flag in the "Display language bar …" checkbox and click OK to confirm.
Step 6
If the "Language bar" button is inactive, in the "Languages" tab, click "More", go to the "Advanced" tab and in the "System settings" section, uncheck the box next to "Turn off additional text services". If the flag is already unchecked, check it and click OK to confirm. Then go to the "Advanced" tab again and uncheck this checkbox.
