Instructions

Step 1

First of all, you need to find out the exact name of the service on the system. Go to the control panel, expand the "Administrative Tools" node and double-click on the "Services" shortcut. The system will display a list of all installed services and their status.

Step 2

There are other ways to access the list of services. Right-click on the "My Computer" icon and check the "Manage" item. In the window of the "Computer Management" snap-in, double-click the "Services and Applications" node and on the right side, click the "Services" snap-in.

Step 3

Find the service you want to remove and right-click on its name. In the context menu, select the "Properties" command. In the properties window, in the "General" tab, pay attention to the item "Service name". In Windows XP, it is not always possible to copy this string to the clipboard, so write down the service name manually.

Step 4

Press Win + R keys and enter cmd in the search bar to bring up a Windows command window. In the command window, write sc delete name_service, where name_service is the name of the service. If the service name contains spaces, it must be enclosed in quotation marks: “sc delete name service”. Refresh the list of services using the F5 key to verify that the service has been removed.

Step 5

The list of services is stored in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, so you can delete services using the registry editor. In the search bar, write regedit. In the editor window, press Ctrl + F and enter the service name in the search box. After a successful search, delete the entire folder containing the service name. To do this, right-click on the section and select the "Delete" command.
