The taskbar in Windows operating systems is a strip (horizontal or vertical) along one of the edges of the monitor screen. The taskbar provides quick access to certain computer functions at any time and notifies the user of any system changes (connecting external media, installing hardware, etc.) or information messages of some programs.
Auto-hide the taskbar
To hide the taskbar, right-click anywhere on the taskbar. Then, in the list that appears, select the "Properties" line. The Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box opens, displaying the basic settings for the taskbar and Start menu options.
You can also access the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box by opening the Start menu and left-clicking on the Find Programs and Files text box. In this line, enter the query "panel" and in the list that appears, select the line "Taskbar and Start menu" from the "Control Panel" block.
In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window, activate the Taskbar tab. It shows the settings for the appearance, position, available taskbar buttons, etc.
In the "Taskbar design" section, find the "Automatically hide the taskbar" line and check the box next to it. Press the "Apply" and "OK" buttons in sequence. After that, the taskbar will hide when you move the mouse cursor away from it.
General recommendations
In order to bring up the automatically hiding taskbar, move the mouse cursor to the border of the monitor screen, along which it is located. You can also call the taskbar and the "Start" menu at any time and with running full-screen applications by pressing the "Windows" key (with the operating system logo) on the keyboard.
The user can also increase or decrease the size of the taskbar at his own discretion. To do this, move the mouse cursor to the border of the taskbar strip to make the cursor look like a double-headed arrow. Then press and hold the left mouse button and resize the taskbar by moving the cursor to the desired side.
Users are advised to enable automatic hiding of the taskbar at low monitor screen resolutions. when the panel is hidden, the working area of the screen is slightly enlarged. You can also slightly increase the size of the work area by enabling the use of small icons on the taskbar. To do this, right-click on any place in the panel and select the "Properties" line in the context menu that opens. Turn on the "Taskbar" tab and in the design block, check the box next to the "Use small icons" line. Press the "Apply" and "OK" buttons in sequence. After that, the icons used on the taskbar will become small and, therefore, the size of the taskbar will decrease slightly.
