The calculator program appeared in the standard set of Windows OS tools a long time ago - as soon as the computer became a "home" computer, and not just a device for a narrow circle of specialists. There are also many ways to launch this application, so you can choose the one that is most convenient for you.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the main menu of the operating system - press the Win key or click on the "Start" button on the taskbar. If the previous time you used the calculator program not very long ago, you will find a link to launch it in the left column. Otherwise, go to the menu section with the name "All programs", scroll down the list of items placed in it and open the "Standard" folder. The link to launch the calculator is placed in it by default.
Step 2
In the latest operating systems - Windows 7 and Vista - a field for entering a search query has been added to the main menu. It makes it easy to get to the desired program or control panel applet without having to navigate through all the menu items. It is very simple to call the calculator program through such a search query - press the Win key, type only two letters "ka" and press Enter. In this case, you do not need to click in the query input field, as well as click on the "Calculator" item, which will appear in the list of search results.
Step 3
You can also open the calculator through the program launch dialog. To call this dialog, open the main menu and select the "Run" item. If the display of this item in the menu is disabled in the settings of your OS, use the "hot keys" Win + R. Then type the command calc and press the Enter key or click on the OK button and the application will be launched by the operating system. In the latest operating systems, this command, instead of the start dialog, can be entered in the search query field, which is described in the previous step.
Step 4
If it is more convenient for you to use shortcuts on the desktop to open any applications, create such an icon for the calculator. To do this, using the method described in the first step, find the link to launch it in the main menu and drag it to the desktop with the mouse.
Step 5
Sometimes you need a calculator all the time and you have to open it every time you start your computer. In this case, you can add a link to launch it to the startup list and the program will open automatically when you turn on your computer. The folder "Startup" is placed in the same section of the main menu, where the folder "Standard", which stores the link to launch the calculator, is also located - just drag this link with the mouse from one folder to another.
