Updates to elements of the operating system are required for its correct operation. Microsoft has provided automatic updates in its latest version. If this does not suit you for some reason, you can disable updates to Windows 10 by changing some settings.
It is very good that the system is updated - this increases the performance and security of the OS. But the fact that this is done without the participation of the user is not very convenient: you urgently need to go to the Internet, and in front of you is a monitor with the inscription: "updates are being downloaded", you have to wait for the end of the OS update; after updates, the required program does not open; it happens that after the next update the system refuses to boot. In addition, Internet traffic is consumed uncontrollably.
Windows 10 is not at all a hopeless operating system, it is quite easy to disable automatic updates. Go to "parameters" and then to "update and security" → "windows update center" → "advanced parameters". Select "notify about reboot". In this case, when installing updates, the system will warn you about a restart, you will be insured against surprises and you can restart your computer whenever it is convenient for you. If you want to go further, turn off the "provide updates for other Microsoft products" and "updates from multiple locations" options. This is especially useful with low internet speeds.
After doing some more manipulation of the settings, you can turn off the automatic downloads of device drivers. Open the "Windows search" box, in the "search for materials" column, enter "run" or press the Win + R buttons. Insert the command “rundll32 newdev.dll, DeviceInternetSettingUi” into the column, click “ok” - the “device installation settings” window will open - “download automatically applications and custom icons”. Select "no" and click on the "save changes" button. In this case, the OS will download and install drivers from the hard disk, and contact the Update Center in rare cases when the required driver is not on the computer.
