It is difficult to imagine a modern desktop or mobile computer that is not connected to a local network or the Internet. To properly configure the local network in the Windows Seven operating system, you need to take into account several nuances.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn on your computer and wait for the operating system to load. Open the Start menu by pressing the appropriate button on your keyboard. Go to the computer control panel by selecting the desired item. Open the Network & Internet menu. After opening a new window, select "Network and Sharing Center".
Step 2
In the left column of the new menu, find the "Change adapter settings" item. Select the icon of the network card connected to the local network whose parameters you want to configure. Click on its icon with the right mouse button and select "Properties".
Step 3
Click the left mouse button on the item "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4)". Click the Properties button and wait for the new dialog to start. Further configuration depends on how this local network was created and what devices were used to build it.
Step 4
If you have the opportunity to use a dynamic IP address that will be issued by a special device (router or router), then activate the "Obtain an IP address automatically" item. If you do not need to set the server addresses yourself, check the box next to "Obtain DNS server addresses automatically".
Step 5
If you need to enter a permanent IP address, then select "Use the following IP address". Fill in the first field of the dialog box by entering the value of the IP address for this network card. Set the DNS server values in the same way.
Step 6
If this network card periodically connects to two different networks, click the Alternate Configuration tab. Complete the suggested items as described in the previous steps. Click the Ok button to save the entered settings. Wait until the network connection is updated and the new settings are applied.
