Suppose you have a computer, but there is absolutely no documentation for it. Accordingly, it is not possible to find out the most accurate parameters of the contents of the filling of the system unit. And for one reason or another, you urgently need to find out the bit capacity of the computer processor.

Step 1

There are many ways to check this. The simplest option does not imply the installation of any additional programs, but at the same time it is not accurate enough. To implement it, simply launch the task manager while simultaneously holding down three keys - Ctrl + Alt + Delete in the Windows operating system. In the window that opens, in the "Performance" tab, in the line "CPU utilization chronology" there are windows - this is the number of processor cores of your computer. If there are two or more of them, you can be 99% sure that the processor capacity of this computer is 64 bits, since all modern dual-core processors are 64-bit.

Step 2

But the system unit can be quite old and not updated for a long time, respectively, this way to find out the processor bit capacity is no longer suitable. Refer to additional programs. For a more accurate result, you need at least a couple of such software utilities. The first and fairly easy to learn is CPU-Z. Download it from the official site of the program - this little utility is completely free and will take up very little space on your hard disk space. Install it, run it, and in the very first tab under the name "CPU" all information about your processor will be displayed. Find the line "Instructions". In it you can see, for example, this cipher: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, EM64TВ 64-bit. The same means "x86-64". Everything else is 32-bit processors.

Step 3

Another useful program is AIDA64. Unlike CPU-Z, it is paid, but has a 30-day trial period. After downloading it from the official website, installing and running it, go to the "Motherboard" tab, and then to the "CPUID" item. The line "Instruction sets" will tell you about the processor bitness - 64 or 32 bits.
