Working under the Windows operating system as an administrator can be insecure. This is due to the unlimited rights of this account - without proper preparation, you can cause irreparable damage to the system, which may require a complete reinstallation of the entire system.
Instructions
Step 1
A reliable way to restrict the computer from starting under an administrator account is to hide it from the welcome screen. Open the "Start" menu, select "Run …", in the command line that opens, enter Regedit.
Step 2
The Windows Registry Editor will open. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon.
Here you will need to create a new subsection. From the "Edit" menu item, select "New", then click on the "Section" item and enter the name SpecialAccounts. Go to this section and create another one in it, named UserList.
Step 3
Go to the UserList section. Open the Edit menu, select New, then DWORD Value, enter the name of the administrator account you want to hide, and set the value to 0.
To display the administrator account again, simply delete the created parameter or assign it the value "1".
Step 4
The administrator account can be hidden by writing a special batch file.
Open Notepad and enter text
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogonSpecialAccountsUserList]
"Name" = dword: 00000000
where Name is the name of the hidden account.
Step 5
Save the file by giving it an arbitrary name and specifying the "reg" extension. Select the "All Files" type before saving. Run the created file and agree to change the registry. The account will be hidden.
Step 6
You can manage hidden accounts through the Local Users and Groups snap-in, or through the classic control panel, for this in the Run … line, you must enter the lusrmgr.msc or control userpasswords2 command, respectively.
