Sooner or later, some people have their own secrets. And someone is trying to keep them in their own, "hidden" from prying eyes, a place: for someone it is the pages of books, for someone a notebook, and someone keeps their secrets in files and folders that have been password-protected. For this, you can use special software tools.
Necessary
DirLock software
Instructions
Step 1
The Windows XP operating system provides the broadest possibilities for working with files and folders, but the distribution did not find a program for hiding secret folders. Instead, you can create multiple accounts and store documents in a "home" folder, the contents of which will only be available to the user who owns the password.
Step 2
For these purposes, you can use special programs, for example, DirLock. This software is absolutely free, i.e. the utility can be easily downloaded from the Internet. After downloading the program to your computer, you should install it. Use the prompts of the "Program Setup Wizard" for a quick installation.
Step 3
To start the program, there is no need to click on the shortcut; by means of this utility, the Lock / Unlock item will appear in the Explorer context menu. Try experimenting on any directory on your hard drive. Right-click on the selected folder, select Lock / Unlock from the context menu.
Step 4
A small window will appear in front of you, in which you must enter the password, as well as confirm it, i.e. it must be entered twice. Press the Lock button to complete the password for the folder. Try to open the folder by double-clicking on it with the left mouse button - a window will appear on the screen with a warning about restricting access to this folder.
Step 5
If you would like to not only restrict access to the folder, but also hide it, repeat the procedure again. Enter the password with its confirmation in the window that opens, check the box next to Hide and click the Lock button. Your folder will now disappear from the Explorer window. It can be restored only through the program window, which can be launched from the "Start" menu (section "All programs").
