Administrators and service center employees, when taking a computer for repair, often ask the same question - did the user save his personal data. But how can you do this if you are new to using a computer and do not know where to look for them? There are certain places where the operating system stores user data by default.

Step 1
Open My Computer or any file manager you like. Go to the "C:" drive. Find on it the Users folder or "Users" if your operating system is Russified. Go to this folder. Find the folder that matches your name or your account name. All files located in it relate to your work on the computer - data of installed programs, documents, photos, music and movies.
Step 2
You can find your pictures in the Pictures folder, your documents in the My Documents folder, video files in the My Videos folder, and so on. Save files in games are stored in the Saved Games folder - copy them if you plan to play this game further from the same place.
Step 3
Pay attention to the "Desktop" folder. It contains everything that "lies" on your desktop. That is, there are shortcuts, folders, and individual files. Don't store information on your desktop. Your personal information can also be stored in the folders of installed programs in the Program Files directory, as well as in the folders of the C drive and other sections. We recommend that you save copies of important documents to external media or optical disc.
Step 4
As a rule, for the correct storage of data on a personal computer, you need to create separate directories on the hard disk and folders so that all information corresponds to the folder name. Store all important data in addition on portable media, so that in case of system failures or a virus infection of the computer, you can restore everything without problems. Also, do not forget that licensed software must be installed on the computer.
