Instructions

Step 1

Any computer included in the local network can be used as a network resource. You can even create public folders on your portable external hard drive. First, make sure the selected computer is visible on the network. Open the System and Security menu located in the toolbar. Go to the "Administration" menu and open the "Services" item. Disable Windows Firewall.

Step 2

Right click on this service and select Properties. Find the "Startup type" field in the menu that opens and set it to "Disabled". Open the Network and Sharing Center. Select the Change Sharing Settings menu. Find and activate the "Turn on network discovery" feature. Now scroll down the page and find the "Turn off password protected sharing" item. Activate it. Click the Save Changes button and restart your computer.

Step 3

Open the "My Computer" menu and navigate to the hard drive partition where you want to open the network share. Create a new folder and enter its name, for example Local Resource. Click on it with the right mouse button and hover over the item "Sharing". Select the Homegroup (Read / Write) option. In the window that appears, select the "Share objects" option.

Step 4

If you are not using a homegroup or you need to add specific computers to the list of allowed connections, then select "Specific users". Click on the arrow and select the "All" item in the expanded menu. Click the Add button. Set this user category to Read and Write. Save your settings and restart your computer. Make sure that your network does not include computers for which you want to disable access to a network resource.
