Mail Agent is a free program for the exchange of short messages online among users of the mail.ru mail server, which works on the same ICQ principle.

Instructions
Step 1
Register in the mail.ru mail system. To do this, fill in the required fields in the appropriate registration form on the site and select a login to enter. This is a necessary operation for registering with a mail agent, since this service is not provided to users of other mail servers. If you have had a mailbox before, you can use it to log in to the system.
Step 2
Download the mail agent, install the program on your computer and enter your login details. You can then receive and send messages while online. In order to start receiving messages, select the interlocutor, find out the contacts of your friends and add them to the special list of the program. After that, when you receive messages, you will be notified about it using the sound scheme of the program, and the contact who sent you the message will be highlighted in the list among the others.
Step 3
In order to read the received message, double-click on the contact with the left mouse button. In this case, you will have a new chat window. If you need to view all messages of correspondence with a given user, right-click on the contact and select "Message Archive". This feature is available by default, but you can deactivate it if you do not want to store your message history on your computer.
Step 4
If you want to receive notifications about new messages in the mail agent system while you are doing other things and other programs are open on your computer, set up message notifications in the area of programs running in the background in the lower right corner of the taskbar. In the notification settings of the program, check the box next to the item "Notify about new messages". Apply and save your changes.
