Step 1
First of all, decide on the type of device to which you plan to connect the USB cable. This can be a laptop, personal computer, mobile phone, synthesizer, digital camera or camcorder. Other options are also possible, such as a recorder, voice recorder, car radio, external sound card, e-book, portable recording studio, etc. The main thing is that this electronic equipment has a USB port with an external USB socket.

The USB socket looks like a small rectangular input. In some cases, mainly on compact equipment, the USB connector can be shaped like a small trapezoid. On the plastic or rubber cover of the plug of the cord there is a USB icon in the form of a branched cable - "trident" or "branch". A circle is drawn at the base of this tree block diagram. At the end of the central branch of the icon there is a triangle figure. The side branches of the "trident" end in a different way: one with a small circle, and the other with a small square. The USB socket is universal, it can simultaneously perform the functions of input and output. Often the words "USB" are indicated next to the connector itself.
Step 3
There are two ways to connect the USB cable. The first is to plug the USB cable directly into the USB connector. Just plug the cord into the USB port. The first connection method will only be relevant if the dimensions of the socket and plug match. The second method of connecting the cord requires the use of an additional adapter, or an extension cord with an existing adapter at the end. The second connection method is used when the dimensions of the USB connector do not match the dimensions of the wire plug. An adapter and extension cord are always available from an electronics store. Most often, electronics manufacturers supply their products complete with a ready-made USB cable of the desired size. Look for it in the product packaging.
