The existing variety of video file formats is only inconvenient for many users: they cannot view the video on a computer, the file cannot be read by the video player. The solution to these problems is to change the video format.
Instructions
Step 1
There are several ways in which you can change the format of the desired video file. The first way is to use a program designed for video editing and editing. The second method presents a solution using a media converter application.
Step 2
Choose one of the video editing and editing programs. The standard Windows Movie Maker is not suitable in most cases, since it can save files only in the.wmv format. However, if this option suits you, use this particular application.
Step 3
Launch your chosen video editing program. Import the required video file into it. To do this, open the folder with the video, click on the desired file, then, without releasing the mouse button, drag the video into the program window. Not all programs support this method of adding files, so you can use the interface of the application itself. Select "File" -> "Open" from the menu (in some editors you will need to select "File" -> "Import"). In the dialog box that appears, find the desired video file, select it and click the "Open" button.
Step 4
The selected video will open on the timeline of the program. Now you need to save it in the required format. For this purpose, select the "File" -> "Save As" menu (in some editors, you will need to select "File" -> "Export"). In the dialog box that appears, specify the save location and file name, then click on the drop-down menu "Format" and select the one you want. Additionally, specify the compression settings. Click the "Save" button and wait until the end.
Step 5
Another way is to use a converter program. Launch the appropriate application, select the required video via the "File" -> "Open" menu. In the program settings, specify the desired format, the location to save the converted video, and then click the start button. Wait for the process to finish.
