One of the most common reasons for restoring iPhone, iPod or iPad firmware is jailbreak or updating to the latest version.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure you backed up your mobile device using iTunes, or perform the manual backup procedure.
Step 2
Connect your device to the computer using the special USB cable included in the package and wait for the application to automatically detect the device.
Step 3
Select your device in the list on the left pane of the iTunes program window and open its context menu by clicking the right mouse button.
Step 4
Specify the "Create a backup" command and wait for the process to complete.
Step 5
Follow the path:
drive_name: / Documents and Settings / user_name / Application Data / Apple Computer / iTunes / mobile_device_name Software Update - for Windows OS;
drive_name: / Library / iTunes / mobile_device_name Software Update - for Mac OS
and identify the saved or created backup file of the device firmware. The file must have a *.ipsw extension.
Step 6
Hold down the Shift function key (for Windows OS) or the Option function key (for Mac OS) and select your device again from the list in the left pane of the iTunes application.
Step 7
Use the "Restore from backup" command in the drop-down menu and specify the full path to a specific file of the required firmware in the "Select iTunes file" dialog box that opens.
Step 8
Confirm the execution of the restore command by clicking the "Select" button and wait for the process to complete.
